Punica Granatum Fruit Juice description

_Punica granatum_ fruit juice is expressed from the pomegranate, _Punica granatum_. According to its International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) status, _Punica granatum_ fruit juice is primarily used as a skin conditioning ingredient or to add flavor to lip products; however, studies indicate it has much more value than just those applications. Like extracts of the pomegranate fruit itself, the juice has free radical-fighting properties, primarily from compounds called punicalagans, which are powerful phenolic antioxidants. One study found that pomegranate juice had strong anti-inflammatory properties which helped improve repair mechanisms within photodamaged skin. In addition, evidence shows that pomegranate juice has some antibacterial activity.
